Cha Cha Tea Blog

Guest blog by celebration specialist Marilee Karamanski

I recently got to sit with Maleah Moskoff of Cha Cha Tea and discuss the juxtaposition of our two businesses, and of course… what makes a great tea party!

Usually, when you make a lovely cup of tea for yourself or yourself and a friend, it’s all about the sitting and relaxing! Tea does not have to be “fussy”, it just is.

Occasionally, however, one wants more flair! Rather than a quiet cup of tea, you’re looking for a tea party- with emphasis on the “party”. I have some suggestions for three different tea party themes! Having a theme for your gathering will give your guests a much more memorable experience if it’s done well. You can invite your guests to share more of an experience with you. It’s a little like stepping into a work of art or into a beautiful story. Entice your guests through all their senses. Below, I’ll offer some elements for hosting three distinct parties. You’ll get some décor ideas, menus and of course suggestions for the perfect tea to complement each theme!

On a snowy night in February, Indocara, in Madison was kind enough to host It's Just fun Madison's inaugural meet up. Cha Cha Tea provided 8 teas to sample with 11 chocolates provided by Theo Chocolates, an all organic and fair trade chocolate company based in Seattle.
All was a buzz! Some of the winning pairs were Coconut Curry milk chocolate with Golden Assam black tea as well as Dark orange chocolate with Organic Earl Grey.

Celebrating Chinese New Year 2010

We think it is pretty neat that this year Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year are on the same day. The year of the tiger began on 2-14-10. We collaborated with Madison's favorite Chinese restaurant, Imperial Garden, to offer a unique tea tasting.

Healthy eating & lifestyle event at Metcalfe's Market

I spent part of Saturday and Sunday at Metcalfe's Market, sampling tea and promoting hot tea month. Thank you to everyone who stopped to take time for tea and support a local business, Cha Cha Tea.

Emeril drinks green tea

Cha Cha Tea

The internet is an amazing tool. I sound like my dad when I say that, but the power of social networking cannot be denied.

Last St.Patrick's Day I called into a radio show and spoke with Martha Stewart. I found out that she likes matcha tea!

Yesterday, I was checking my tweets and saw that Martha Stewart Radio was taking calls for Emeril Lagasse's Sirius XM show called "Cooking with Emeril". The post was only 5 minutes old, so I thought, "Why not? I was on the air once, maybe I'll get through again." A producer answered, and I had to come up with a question on the spot. Emeril was talking with Joseph Bastianich, a New York restauranteur and vineyard owner. I had 2 seconds prior to going on air to come up with a question, so this was it.

"Have you seen the newest Disney movie set in New Orleans?" His answer, "Yes, I play one of the crocodiles, and making it was fun!" Phew. It wasn't a totally off base question after all.

I was interviewed on Lainie Sips

Hi everybody. A couple of days ago, I had a great discussion with Lainie Petersen on her talk show, Lainie Sips. We talked about tea and what it's like to start and run a tea business. Lainie is one of the many great friendships I've made since starting Cha Cha Tea. I can't say enough about how open and friendly the whole tea community continues to be. Truly, that's been one of the great, unexpected bonuses of becoming more involved in the world of tea.

As always, keep drinking tea, and click here to listen to the podcast!
