On a snowy night in February, Indocara, in Madison was kind enough to host It's Just fun Madison's inaugural meet up. Cha Cha Tea provided 8 teas to sample with 11 chocolates provided by Theo Chocolates, an all organic and fair trade chocolate company based in Seattle.
All was a buzz! Some of the winning pairs were Coconut Curry milk chocolate with Golden Assam black tea as well as Dark orange chocolate with Organic Earl Grey.

Celebrating Chinese New Year 2010

We think it is pretty neat that this year Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year are on the same day. The year of the tiger began on 2-14-10. We collaborated with Madison's favorite Chinese restaurant, Imperial Garden, to offer a unique tea tasting.

Healthy eating & lifestyle event at Metcalfe's Market

I spent part of Saturday and Sunday at Metcalfe's Market, sampling tea and promoting hot tea month. Thank you to everyone who stopped to take time for tea and support a local business, Cha Cha Tea.

Emeril drinks green tea

Cha Cha Tea

The internet is an amazing tool. I sound like my dad when I say that, but the power of social networking cannot be denied.

Last St.Patrick's Day I called into a radio show and spoke with Martha Stewart. I found out that she likes matcha tea!

Yesterday, I was checking my tweets and saw that Martha Stewart Radio was taking calls for Emeril Lagasse's Sirius XM show called "Cooking with Emeril". The post was only 5 minutes old, so I thought, "Why not? I was on the air once, maybe I'll get through again." A producer answered, and I had to come up with a question on the spot. Emeril was talking with Joseph Bastianich, a New York restauranteur and vineyard owner. I had 2 seconds prior to going on air to come up with a question, so this was it.

"Have you seen the newest Disney movie set in New Orleans?" His answer, "Yes, I play one of the crocodiles, and making it was fun!" Phew. It wasn't a totally off base question after all.

I was interviewed on Lainie Sips

Hi everybody. A couple of days ago, I had a great discussion with Lainie Petersen on her talk show, Lainie Sips. We talked about tea and what it's like to start and run a tea business. Lainie is one of the many great friendships I've made since starting Cha Cha Tea. I can't say enough about how open and friendly the whole tea community continues to be. Truly, that's been one of the great, unexpected bonuses of becoming more involved in the world of tea.

As always, keep drinking tea, and click here to listen to the podcast!

Cha Cha Tea at the Dane Buy Local Holiday Fair 2009

Cha Cha Tea is a proud member of Dane Buy Local, and we attended our first Dane Buy Local Holiday Fair.
The place was packed with holiday shoppers and one elf getting a free massage. Don't ask, just watch the video.

Cha Cha Tea at the Herb Fair 2009

This was our second year at the Herb Fair at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison, Wisconsin. We had a great time while spreading the Word of Tea.

Eat your tea

We love cooking with tea. Every year we make a simple shortbread with tea added. This year we made: matcha green tea, organic peppermint rooibos and organic Cha Cha Chai. Oh so good by themselves or with a cup of tea of course! Here's our recipe: Icebox Shortbread with Cha Cha Tea
Prep: 25 minutes Total: 1 hour 45 minutes

This recipe makes two logs of dough. The logs can be refrigerated for up to four days or frozen for up to three months (thaw before slicing and baking). To make two flavors with one recipe, divide the dough in half in step 1 before adding mix-ins (and use half the amounts given).
Ingredients
Makes 36.
• FOR THE SHORTBREAD
• 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
• 1 cup confectioners' sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled), plus more for rolling
• 1 tablespoon *loose leaf tea ground finely (Peppermint Rooibos, Cha Cha Chai or Matcha)

Tea with Maleah

What makes Cha Cha Tea unique? Well, many things, but one that stands out is our passion for consumer education. Last week was busy with three tastings or an experience called
“Tea with Maleah”. For groups of 4 to 40 we have helped people travel the world in a cup of tea.

TeawithMaleah

When you book a tasting you get the owner herself, handouts and steeped samples of high quality seasonally fresh loose teas. Tea fans have said they have enjoyed getting questions answered , smelling and tasting new teas, as well as taking time to slow down and enjoy the moment.

Tea and Chocolate

One of the tastings was a Tea ad Chocolate Pairing class. We teamed up with local Madison chocolate makers and sampled 6 teas
with 12 chocolates.
